Program Highlights:
Key presenters at the course are Dennis Forte of Dennis Forte & Associates, and Gordon Young of Foodstream Pty Ltd, both highly experienced in extrusion through their work with a variety of companies and extruded products.
The course covers topics from the basics of extruders and their configuration, through the chemical and physical changes occurring inside the extruder barrel, to an understanding of extruder dies and instability. Exercises to demonstrate application of the theory in the formulation of a product and the design of the process will be included. Effects will be demonstrated in a practical demonstration during the second day using the twin screw extruder at the commercial processing facility of Newly Weds Foods located in western Sydney. The fundamentals of peripheral systems (raw materials pre-processing and preconditioning) are also covered.
