Overview:
This course has been run annually in Australia since 1996, and is now offered in New Zealand as well as Thailand. It was run in Asia for the first time in December 2004, and again in November 2005, March 2007, and November 2009. Participation in the course has been excellent, with attendees originating from at least 10 countries.
The course covers the principles of extrusion, the design of extrusion processes, and the formulation of extruded products. The program is relevant to the production of all types of extruded products - including expanded snacks and breakfast cereals, pastas and third generation snack pellets, pet foods and aqua-feeds.

Registration Details:
Cost: S$1,284 (including 7% GST)
A 10% discount applies for registrations received by 16 April 2010 and paid within 14 days of invoicing. An additional 20% discount applies for group bookings of five (5) or more registrations received at one time from the same company.
The registration fee includes handout notes directly related to the presentations, as well as lunches, and morning and afternoon teas. More detailed notes (i.e. text book) are available as a bound volume at an additional cost.
Registrations close on 31 May 2010 (or when the course is fully booked).

Presenters: Key presenters at the course are Dennis Forte and Gordon Young, both highly experienced in extrusion through their work with a variety of companies and extruded products.
Program Highlights: The course covers topics from the basics of extruders and their configuration, through what is happening chemically and physically inside the extruder barrel, to an understanding of extruder dies and instability. The fundamentals of peripheral systems (raw materials pre-processing and preconditioning) are also covered. Planned presentations include: - Principles of extruder configurations (single and twin screw) - Role of rheology in extrusion - Die types and effects, die design - Extrusion chemistry - Recipe design - Product texture development - Causes and effects of extruder instability - Single screw extruders vs twin screw extruders - Screw, barrel, and die-plate wear, extruder maintenance
The fundamentals of peripheral systems (eg raw materials pre-processing, preconditioning, product drying) are also covered.

Cancellation policy:
Fees, less a 10% handling charge, will be refunded if participants cancel their registration 21 days or more prior to the course. Fees will not be refunded after that date, but a substitute participant will be accepted at any time.
FoodStream reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course if necessary (e.g. due to insufficient registrations). In this case a full refund of fees will be available. FoodStream’s liability is limited to the registration fee only, and FoodStream cannot be held liable for air fares, accommodation or other related expenses.
